Project Location

Blackpool, Lancashire FY4

Property Type

The property is within 400m of the seafront and in a low-lying part of the town. It is a 1940's constructed bungalow with a cavity wall structure.

Insulation Type

The cavity width is 35mm and had been filled in the first instance with a small polystyrene glued bead and some years later had also been filled with poorly installed fibre insulation

The Problems

The customer contacted Cavity Extraction Ltd regarding extensive damp within the property and a damp odour throughout the property. On investigation, the walls were found to be excessively wet with a large amount of sand and rubble within the cavity of the west facing elevation.

The Solution

Remove all insulation and rubble from within the cavity and restore the property back to its virgin state. All vents also opened to allow air movement and the structure to dry naturally.

Customer Statement

“Cavity Extraction Ltd carried out an extraction of insulation that had been poorly/wrongly installed to my property. The process was explained to me and the team that Cavity Extraction Ltd sent were extremely diligent and carried out the work to a very satisfactory standard. They arrived on time,

worked hard while there were here and cleared up after themselves. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Cavity Extraction Ltd to anyone else who has a damp problem caused by cavity wall insulation.” Mrs Emma Early (August 2016)
